Cold War in Latin America

Over the past week, students have been learning about the Cold War in Latin America. See the activities below.

1. Introduction to the Cold War in Latin America. Students learned about the United Fruit company and the concept of the Banana Republic.
2. Students learned about US Interventions in Latin America during the 20th century. They made maps.
3. Students learned about the 1954 coup in Guatemala [see below] and the involvement of the CIA. They took notes using this worksheet. They added notes to their worksheets as they listened to a podcast about a clandestine CIA radio station in Nicaragua [click here].
