The Cold War in Latin America

Agenda 4/25:
  1. Students worked on making a historical map of US interventions in Central America in the 20th Century. Students organized each intervention into different categories such as fighting communism, protecting US business interests, etc.
  2. Students listened to the song La United Fruit, Co with lyrics by poet Pablo Neruda. The poem describes the system of "banana republics" established in Central America during the mid-29th century.
  3. Students listened to a podcast [below] about the CIA involvement in a 1954 coup in Guatemala. They took notes using this piece of paper.
