Manifest Destiny

Agenda 12/2:

1. Students reviewed the concept of Manifest Destiny, discussing the article, A Great Nation of Futurity, where John L. O'Sullivan first coined the term in 1839. 
2. Students interpreted a series of paintings depicting Westward Expansion [below], noting the artists technique and message.
3. Students then analyzed a document by Theodore Roosevelt concerning the fate of Native Americans. Specifically, claims to land ownership.
