Agenda 11/14/12:
- I talked about secession petitions that have begun in the aftermath of the presidential election. I showed the trailer to the new film, Lincoln.
- Students interpreted historical documents and created arguments in support and opposition of the contention that Lincoln was racist. Students wrote about their personal thoughts and turn them in.
- Students debated their positions, then discussed their personal feelings on the matter.
- We finished by listening to an interview with Columbia University historian, Eric Foner, about Lincoln's thoughts on slavery.
