Students viewed a mural by Diego Rivera and discussed its depiction of the colonial period in Latin America. Next they read a document by Mexican Independence leader Jose Morelos, reading it for clues about the colonial period in New Spain. To finish, students began learning about the Haitian Revolution, first taking some notes [below], then watching the film Egalite for All.
