- Students learned about life in Cuba prior to the 1959 Revolution led by Fidel Castro. They watched the first 15-20 minutes from a documentary about Fidel Castro [below]. They made a concept web from the activity.
- Students watched a series clips about the events of the revolution from 1956-1959, comparing and contrasting the strengths of the rebels to the weaknesses of the Batista regime.
- Students learned about the Bay of Pigs Invasion, debating whether or not Kennedy should have invaded the country.
- Students read a section from Born in Blood and Fire, answering these questions.
