Seneca Falls to Suffrage

Agenda 2/27-3/2:
  1. Students finished the simulation of the Seneca Falls Convention. They read the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions and made small posters illustrating one of the points made.
  2. Students read an article about women's roles during the Civil War. They then listened to a podcast about female Civil War reenactors. They wrote notes, quotes, and drawings using this piece of paper.
  3. I gave a brief introduction to the Suffragists of the 1900s. I explained the split between the NAWSA and NWP organizations and introduced the students to Carrie Chapman Catt and Alice Paul. Students watched a clip from the movie Iron Jawed Angels [below].
  4. Students began analyzing a series of documents, keeping track of arguments for and against suffrage.
