Traditionalism vs. Modernism in the 1920s

Agenda 2/6:
  1. Students reviewed their readings and worksheets on traditionalism and modernism from last class [see previous post].
  2. I reviewed different culture clashes from the 1920s [below]. Here are my lecture notes.
  3. Students began working on dialogues, following  these directions:
Dialogues:
  • Write a short dialogue between a traditionalist and modernist.
  • Pick one area of society where people clashed
  • Refer to key terms, vocabulary and events
  • Possible scenarios:
    • Young people today are totally out of control.
    • Prohibition has done more harm than good.
    • Both evolution and creationism should be taught in the classroom.
    • There are too many immigrants coming to America
    • In a high school, teenagers discuss new technologies and trends.
