Progressive Reforms of the Early 1900s

Agenda:
  1. Students turned in their muckraker articles investigating problems at the turn of the century.
  2. I gave a presentation about reforms at the turn of the century [below]. Here are my lecture notes. There will be a question about reforms on the next quiz.
  3. Students read an article about lynching and viewed a series of images of lynchings [below].
  4. Students learned about the Great Migration of blacks out of the South by looking at a series of paintings by artist Jacob Lawrence, they organized the reasons why people left, making a T-chart of PUSH and PULL factors.
  5. Students watched the film, Many Rivers to Cross: Making a Way Out of No Way. They took notes using this worksheet.
