Introduction to the Civil Rights Movement

Agenda 5/6:
  1. Students read and responded to quotes from and excerpt from the book, Why Are All the Blacks Kids Eating Together in the Cafeteria?, by Beverly Tatum. We discussed the article in relation to the previous lesson's discussion about identity.
  2. Students filled out a race card, make a statement about race and identity.
  3. I introduced the Civil Rights Movement as a grassroots movement.
