Quiz Prompts:
- How did the views of Booker T. Washington, Marcus Garvey and W.E.B. DuBois differ on the best ways to advance African Americans in the United States?
- Other than the stock market crash, identify and explain a cause of the Great Depression.
- Identify and explain two areas in which Traditionalism and Modernism clashed in the 1920s.
- Identify and explain two programs created during the New Deal.
Over the past few lessons, students have been learning about the New Deal. Here is a list of class activities and assignments:
- Students listened to a series of songs about the Great Depression.
- Students read excerpts from The Grapes of Wrath.
- Students began working on their own creative interpretations of the effects of the Great Depression.
- Students learned about the Alphabet Soup and the New Deal, taking notes about different programs and determining whether they represented Relief, Recovery, or Reform.
- Students made a class mural representing the programs of the New Deal.
