QUIZ: 1920s, Great Depression and New Deal


There will be a quiz the Wed./Thursday about the Great Depression and New Deal

Quiz Prompts:
  • How did the views of Booker T. Washington, Marcus Garvey and W.E.B. DuBois differ on the best ways to advance African Americans in the United States?
  • Other than the stock market crash, identify and explain a cause of the Great Depression.
  • Identify and explain two areas in which Traditionalism and Modernism clashed in the 1920s.
  • Identify and explain two programs created during the New Deal. 
Over the past few lessons, students have been learning about the New Deal. Here is a list of class activities and assignments:
  1. Students listened to a series of songs about the Great Depression. 
  2. Students read excerpts from The Grapes of Wrath.
  3. Students began working on their own creative interpretations of the effects of the Great Depression.
  4. Students learned about the Alphabet Soup and the New Deal, taking notes about different programs and determining whether they represented Relief, Recovery, or Reform.
  5. Students made a class mural representing the programs of the New Deal.
