Lynching

Agenda 3/10:
  1. Students read an article and viewed a series of slides about lynching.
  2. Students discussed explanations for lynchings and the reasons for lack of prosecution for the perpetrators.
  3. Students learned about the Great Migration as one reaction to discrimination in the South.
  4. Students looked at a series of paintings by Jacob Lawrence and recorded reasons for people to migrate to the North.
  5. Students began reading about one of these African American leaders: Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. DuBois, and Marcus Garvey. They too notes using this worksheet.
