Red Cloud and the Fort Laramie Treaty

Agenda 12/10:

1. Students learned about Sioux chief Red Cloud and his resistance to Westward Expansion.
2. Students read the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1868 and translated the articles into more basic language.
3. In groups, students began writing an updated treaty. The treaties aimed to be realistic and improve relations between the Sioux and the US government.
