The Middle Passage

Agenda 10/29:

1. I handed back and reviewed the Latin America tests.
2. Students turned in their research papers.
3. Students watched a clip from the film Amistad depicting a slaves journey across the Middle Passage. Students wrote a brief reflection about the clip.
4. I explained the inner-African slave trade and the fact that African kingdoms were compelled to participate as rival kingdoms armed themselves by trading slaves to Europe. I also explained the Triangular trade.
5. To finish, students read a document, written by Quakers in 1688, offering a objection to the slave trade and institution of slavery. Students evaluated the document.
