African Americans in the Progressive Era

Agenda:
  1. Students read an article, The War on Telephone Poles, and discussed selected passages.
  2. Students viewed a series of photos of lynchings and heard descriptions of the photos.
  3. Students listened to the song Strange Fruit about lynchings.
  4. Students picked one African American reformer to read about - Marcus Garvey, W.E.B. DuBois, or Booker T. Washington. They began reading a packet about one of the reformers noting experiences, goals/objectives, and means.
