Nat Turner and Violent Resistance

Agenda:
  1. Students read a document from 1688 from a meeting of Quakers. They highlighted the arguments against slavery detailed in the document. They also discussed its Origin, Purpose, Value and Limitation as a historical document.
  2. Students wrote an discussed the questions, "Can taking a life every be justified? Under what circumstances?"
  3. Students viewed series of slides from a graphic novel about Nat Turner's slave rebellion from a book by Kyle Baker.
  4. Watch a film clip about the rebellion.
