A Patriot's History of the United States

Students read an article that attempted to debunk the "lie" that Columbus killed millions of Indians. Students discussed the author's arguments as well as the value of using differing historical interpretations.

Students took notes on the powerpoint below.
Students then listened to two songs: Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue by Toby Keith and the Star Spangled Banner by Jimi Hendrix. Students were asked to consider their definition of patriotism as they watched the clips.

Prepare readings and questions for a Socratic Seminar on Monday. Unsung Heroes and the Introduction to The Patriot's History of the United States.
