I was at a district training yesterday.Students read a piece by Mary Crow Dog entitled, Civilize Them with the Stick. The article is an account of her experience in and Indian boarding school. Students read the packet then answered the following questions:
- Explain some of the negative experiences from Mary's life. Positive?
- Make a three-column chart comparing Native American experiences before, during, and after contact with whites. Use the article as well as information from class.
