Thinking About Identity

Agenda 5/4-5:
Students began their study of the Civil Rights Movement by thinking about identity.
  1. Students brainstormed a series of words about themselves, completing the sentence, "I Am ___________________"
  2. Students participated in an activity where them non-verbally responded to one another based upon the value of a playing card the held up and could not see.
  3. Finally, they completed these questions:
    • My nationality is.....................
    • My ethnicity / culture is .................
    • My race is ....................
    • People see me as .................
