Civil Rights and Black Freedom

Past week's agenda:
  1. Civil Rights Maps and Timeline
  2. Dialogues - Malcolm X and King. Students read bios and longer works by X and MLK. they wrote a dialogue between the two leaders, comparing and contrasting their ideologies.
  3. Students were introduced to the Black Panther Party and the FBI COINTELPRO program. Students analyzed a series of documents determining the involvement of the FBI in suppressing the Civil Rights movement. They wrote a group essay and edited a textbook entry using this worksheet.
