The Anti-Suffrage Movement

Agenda 2/8-9:
  1. Students analyzed a series of documents. The created a graphic organizer as they analyzed the documents. They used four columns on their graphic organizers: Document | Date | Author's view on suffrage | Evidence from the text
  2. Students discussed and defined what is meant by feminism.
  3. They then listened to an interview with conservative Phyllis Schlafly. They made a concept web with "What is Feminism?" in the center, surrounded by three smaller circles: "You";"Others";"Phyllis Schlafly".

  • Identify one woman reformer. Describe her goals and methods.
  • "The Women's Suffrage movement was a cohesive movement that generally employ one approach to gaining the right to vote." To what extent do you agree with this statement?
