The Effects of the Great Depression

Agenda 3/12:

1. Students listened to the song The Ghost of Tom Joad. I explained references in the song that relate to the novel The Grapes of Wrath.
2. Students read excerpts from The Grapes of Wrath. Picking out words and phrases to use in making a creative interpretation of the effects of the Great Depression [see homework].
3. Students began learning about various New Deal programs (referred to as Alphabet Soup). They took notes and made a illustration of the agency on a class mural.
