Over the past three class periods, students have been learning about the Spanish American war and US expansion at the end of the 19th century. Students read
chapter 12 in Howard Zinn's People's History of the United States, watched several film clips and saw a powerpoint. Today (1/13), students began preparing for a simulation debating whether the United States should have annexed the Philippines at the end of the war. Some students were in groups and others were
concerned townspeople.
