Students learned about the effects of Industrial Revolution era weaponry on the way WWI was fought. There are some examples on the powerpoint below. The above clip is from Stanley Kubrick's 1957 movie, Paths to Glory. It depicts trench warfare. After, they split into pairs, with each person reading and taking notes on either The Patriot's History of the United States or The People's History of the United States. Students used this graphic organizer to take notes.
